According to a 2010 American Time Use Survey conducted by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the average adult spends two hours, forty-three minutes a day watching television; only working and sleeping rank higher. For a culture that stresses the value of personal relationships, it’s surprising that we spend three times as much time watching TV than we do interacting with others. In order to create more time to do the things you value, such as personal time and time with family and friends, evaluate your own TV time. Try cutting out an hour a day away from TV to enjoy taking a walk, reading to your child, or talking to friends.
