Female Entrepreneurs Make Progress

Women make up nearly half of the workforce at 46%, yet don’t make up nearly half of business owners. Not only that, women-owned businesses statistically trail their male counterparts in revenue, patents, and job creation by a large margin. The good news is that growth in female-owned businesses has jumped nearly 50% since 1997 and are estimated to currently generate almost $1.3 trillion in revenue. There are record-breaking numbers of applications for programs and communities dedicated to promoting female-led firms, such as Astia and the White House Project. Banks are also granting more loans to female business owners in higher dollar amounts.
