Roanoke Pride with an Inspiring Gay Youth & a Hometown Hero

Human Rights Campaign (HRC) ran a booth at the Roanoke Pride festival in September where they were able to recruit 500 members and were given the chance to meet Jordan Addison and Richard Henegar Jr. Addison is a gay student at a local Roanoke college whose car was vandalized last march with homophobic slurs keyed into his doors. He lacked the funds for the repairs, needing to pay for school, and drove the car with the slurs still on the doors until this past August when Henegar, who owns Roanoke’s Quality Auto Paint and Body, got local businesses to donate materials and refurbished Addison’s car for free.
