Karil Reibold began to write about glass ceilings under the belief that anytime a barrier to success is perceived, the person is held back from achieving their full potential. Reibold, believing nothing could hold her back, was the COO of a precision machining company by age 27. To gain perspective for the article, she asked the female entrepreneurs and CEOs in her own network about their opinions on the glass ceiling and received an intense level of response. One response from Laura Fitton, HubSpot’s Inbound Marketing Evangelist, said: “…can we please stop arguing about whether it [the glass ceiling] exists and simply focus on equipping women to move upward, whether obstacles exist or not?”
