Elizabeth Warren is the first woman to be elected into the U.S. Senate by the State of Massachusetts. Not only that, she was elected over the popular Republican incumbent senator, Scott Brown. While her victory was a great accomplishment, Warren has many challenges ahead of her during her upcoming term. She has said that she is willing to work with anyone, of any party, to meet her goals but it remains to be seen how many will be willing to work with her. She was previously blocked by Republican senators for an appointment as the head of the Consumer Finance Protection Bureau.
