Since the 1980’s, women have made many advances professionally, but they still face challenges when trying to balance work and family. Work/life balance is a term often used to describe this situation, but perhaps a more proper term is “life integration” as work and family are demanding and have overlapping components. By changing perspective and viewing life in stages, women can have a fully integrated life. In one stage, raising children may take precedence over a career. In another, education may be the focus.This doesn’t mean the woman is committed to, or loves, other parts of her life less. Understanding the big picture allows women to live a life they design.
