The Houston Chronicle’s annual survey for the best-paid company executive shows seven women amongst the upper ranks in 2011, up from four in 2010. The highest paid among the women for both years, was Janet Clark, the executive vice president and chief financial officer at Marathon Oil Corp. Clark ranked as the 36th highest paid executive in the survey at $8 million but reports some frustration, feeling at times as if women have hit a ceiling. Despite the frustration, two women were recently named as the CEO of Yahoo and the CFO of Occidental Petroleum Corporation, and the number of female Fortune 500 CEOs has grown from 12 last year to 20 this year.
