There are women breaking molds and exceling in areas other than business. One such woman is Vashti Murphy McKenzie. She became the first woman to be an elected and consecrated bishop in the African Methodist Episcopal Church (AMEC). Bishop McKenzie believes, “Breaking the glass ceiling is not the goal or the prize. Breaking the glass ceiling requires ongoing work in this journey called life.” She works tirelessly, preaching to congregations and organizations, meeting with corporate executives and elected officials, counseling young people, and balancing budgets. Her leadership role is very similar to that of a business executive, and her determination and efforts are an inspiration to many.
