According to the monthly report from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, September saw jobs gained in professional and business services, computer systems design, health care, finance and insurance, construction, and restaurants/drinking establishments in the Bay Area. The health care industry saw the largest growth, with 43,500 jobs. All told, the upbeat nationwide jobs report showed 114,000 jobs gained. The computer and electronics manufacturing industry, however, saw a loss of 5,500 jobs and there was a loss of 6,000 jobs in the information industry. Despite the losses in an important sector of the economy, the Bay Area continues to outpace the rest of the nation in job growth.
