The relationship between mothers and daughters is complex and can cause daily conflicts. Daughters asserting independence expect their mothers to be understanding and supportive. Mothers conversely want to protect their daughters from making mistakes, often giving their daughters advice that their daughters don’t want to hear. Mothers often feel they are taken for granted. Arguments between mothers and daughters may be unavoidable from time to time, but open communication can help. Finding common interests to talk about and spending time together will strengthen the mother-daughter relationship.
