Will successful women help other women get ahead in the workplace? A new study released by Catalyst, a non-profit research organization that focuses on women and work, says “yes.” The myth of the “Queen Bee” who only looks out for herself, is just that: a myth. “There’s a real, virtuous circle,” says Ilene Lang, CEO of Catalyst. Research shows that women who have been helped by others pass it forward, becoming mentors and coaches at a rate higher than men. This leads to more success for the whole company. Research also found that active helpers earned more than their less helpful counterparts.
