The Institute for Advanced Study holds an annual mentoring program for young women considering a career in math. The Program for Women and Mathematics is a two-week intensive program that has run for nineteen years. It provides the opportunity to participate in research seminars and conversations with women scientists and mathematicians from around the country. Some of the women leading seminars are former participants. Like most science and technical fields, women make up a small minority in mathematics. The Program for Women and Mathematics was designed to promote women in math and provide support for women to remain in the field.
