Guidebook Highlights Ways to Create Gender Diversity in Investment Banking

Women in Capital Markets and Catalyst Canada, two non-profit groups, are dedicated to advancing the interests of women in business. A new guidebook, called Women and Men in Canadian Capital Markets: An Action Plan for Gender Diversity, was written by these two non-profits to provide suggestions to improve the investment banking industry’s dismal gender diversity record. Only 23% of analysts, 17% of vice-presidents, and 10% of directors in this field are women. Some suggestions provided in the guidebook include training managers to recognize bias when evaluating employees, learning how to evaluate which women are ready for advancement, and educating young women on the benefits of the investment banking field.
